Srinagar, November 30 (KNO) : Continuing its efforts against drug menace, Jammu and Kashmir police arrested two drug peddlers in South Kashmir’s Ashmuqam and Watergam area of Sopore. Huge quantity of contraband substances were recovered from their possession. Police Station Ashmuqam received an information regarding presence of narcotic substances in the house of Mohammad Aqib Itoo son of Nazir Ahmad Itoo resident of Hangalpawa Ashmuqam. Acting on this information, a police party headed by SHO Ashmuqam Shri Imtiyaz Ahmad under the supervision SDPO Ashmuqam raided the house. During the search of the house, 45 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered. The accused was arrested on the spot and a case FIR number 48/2017 under section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered against him and investigation was taken up. In Sopore, a naka was laid by a police party of Police Post Watergam headed by DO Watergam after receiving some inputs regarding the drug peddler. During naka checking at Dandoosa Crossing, Sopore Police apprehended one person namely Mehraj-ud-din Mir son of Sona-ul-lah Mir resident of Hibdangerpora Rafiabad. On checking, 35 bottles of codeine phosphate were recovered from his possession. The contraband substance was seized and subsequently a case FIR number 72/2017 under section 8/22 NDPS ACT was registered. The investigation of the matter was taken up (KNO)
